Dear Prospective Affiliate:
I applaud your decision to investigate this wonderful opportunity. It was a mere 20 years ago that I found myself looking for an opportunity to move on to something different. For 13 years I had been a quality control supervisor for a major bottling company. I had heard rumors for over a year that the company I worked for was up for sale. I had been looking at all sorts of possibilities from printing companies and laundry mats to multi-level marketing and restaurants. During this search I used a set of ten questions as my guide to finding the right business fit for me. Although the times are a bit different today, those ten questions are still a powerful way to qualify a business opportunity. I share them with you now to use as I did when considering this opportunity.
Is this business right for me?
This is a critical question that deals with your particular situation. In my case I needed an opportunity that I could start part-time from my home. I also wanted something that I could see myself doing for the next 20 years or so. For instance, I could not see myself standing behind a counter or operating a deep fryer for eight hours a day.
I thought that video production sounded interesting, different, and challenging. It has turned out to be just that. I started part-time in my home and now I have a storefront facility. I wear many different hats in my business and so it's never the same routine. I get to create projects from scratch, sometimes starting with nothing more than an idea. Where else could I find the luxury of letting my imagination run wild and capitalizing on the results?
What is the potential market for the business?
Back in 1984, I had the feeling that video production was going to be a booming market. But I never imagined it evolving into what it is today. When I got involved with Videomasters, Betamax and VHS were battling for the consumer's dollar, video equipment was very expensive, some consumer markets were emerging, and two-piece camera and recorder units were state-of-the-art. Today we have digital technology, low prices, VCRs in every home, and an exploding marketplace. The potential has never been greater for you to become a video producer.
What is my earning potential and can I reach my goals and dreams?
When I started my video business I had no experience in business or in the video industry. My goal was to simply make a little extra money video taping weddings. Today my business of 20 years does everything from broadcast infomercials to home movie transfers. I have five full-time employees and operate out of a 2000 square foot office.
What is the investment and does it include equipment and training?
When I was shopping for an opportunity, money was tight and getting the biggest bang for the buck was constantly a factor. Fortunately, for me, one of Videomasters most attractive features has always been its low entry price.
Videomasters has always felt that it should offer its affiliates the very best chance of success right from the start. From digital cameras and non-linear editing to lighting and sound equipment, Videomasters packages contain the essential marketing, training, equipment, and support that you will need to start and succeed in this venture.
What kind of support is available?
I have to admit that it was the support feature that was my main attraction to Videomasters. I had never been in business for myself before and I had no experience in this type of work. I depended on the training and support I received from Videomasters to get me going and to keep my business on track.
With Videomasters, you are taught a proven program that features step-by-step guidance in marketing, training, and business operations. On-going support and education comes through the corporate office and the affiliate network. This national network is a tremendous resource for your business.
I must say that without the Videomasters system for support, I don't know if I would have had the courage to take that step into starting my own business. Marching down a path that had already been cleared by others, allowed me to do it right the first time. I know that it made a world of difference to my success. It was also comforting to know that I was not in this alone. Imagine your business with built in unlimited consultants and mentors just a phone call away?
What kind of track record does the company have?
This is important, after all you are thinking of running on their track. Videomasters was only a few years old when I joined them but even then it was successfully starting people from all walks of life into this new field.
Today after helping over 500 entrepreneurs start their own video production companies, Videomasters is celebrating its 24th anniversary. It is the largest and most successful company of its kind in North America. It has been the featured in many articles and reviews. These ratings judge it not only on its own merits, but in comparison to other opportunities as well. How does Videomasters stack up? Here are a few of the achievements that Videomasters has been recognized for:

Is there a monthly or yearly percentage of sales owed?
As I began to look at opportunities, I wanted one that would teach me and support me in my venture. Each one I found that seemed to want to help also wanted a percentage of my sales for doing so. This required monthly reporting and outlays of thousands of dollars in income that I did not want to pay. To make it worse, there was no cap on the payments. The better I did, the more I paid.
Videomasters is a business opportunity, not a franchise. They are committed to moving your business forward and they do so by taking a different approach. They feature a continuing education program at a fixed yearly fee. This method requires no reporting of income to the corporate office. At the heart of the program is an exclusive member's website. This password-protected site gives the affiliate access to industry news, the affiliate network, member savings on equipment and supplies, a discussion board, advanced education, and more. It allows the affiliate to stay in touch with the network and this rapidly changing industry.
What do others already involved have to say about the business and company?
This was one of my key qualifying questions. In many of the opportunities that I looked into, the pitch from the company sounded good, but the sounds from the field were very discouraging.
If you are going to do something that will possibly impact the rest of your life, you owe it to yourself to talk to someone who is already involved. Through their experience you can hear first hand how their association with Videomasters has impacted their lives. Then, compare what they have said with your situation. Could it help you? Is it the type of organization that you could enjoy? Does it offer long-term benefits? Do they know what they are doing? Do they take your money and run or do they really care about your success? These are strong questions and throughout the Videomasters network you will find amazing answers. After qualification, you will be given access to more detailed information, including a list of affiliates for you to call. They say the proof is in the pudding and our affiliate network speaks for itself.
Is experience necessary?
Have you ever walked a tightrope? I haven't but I imagine it's quite a difficult skill to master. Now imagine another rope at waist level running parallel to the tightrope for you to hold on to. That would make getting to the other side a bit easier wouldn't it? In 1984 I had no experience going into this business, just a desire to be my own boss and chart my own course.
Through Videomasters I found my safety line and the security I needed to do this business and get to the other side. You will find that Videomasters is a company that can truly meet you where you are and can take you anywhere you want to go. Its up to you, and isn't that the whole point of business ownership?
Can I do this?
This is probably the hardest question out of the ten to answer. I know that during the time that I was investigating Videomasters, I was dealing with a lot of unknowns about my own capabilities in this type of business. A lot of that has been discussed here. Looking back on it now, it is apparent that at the time they had more faith in me than I had in myself.
My reasoning at the time was that I liked the idea of being in this kind of business and the potential seemed to be unlimited. The price was right and the company, though young at the time, had a good track record. I liked the fact that the program included both equipment and training. They did not require a royalty fee and I could start it part-time. The affiliates I contacted gave Videomasters rave reviews that were only matched by the achievements bestowed on it by the business industry. The support from the affiliate network gave me added confidence.
So can you do it?
I have found that if you tell someone you are going to play Major League baseball they will come back at you with all kinds of statistics that prove you can't. You're too old, to young or not good enough. But if you go up to a Major League ball player and say to him, "Someday I'm going to play in the major league". He will say, "You can do it".
The reason he can say that is because he has done it. He knows the sacrifices, the struggles, the glory, and the odds. In short he knows what it takes to do it. And because he knows, he can say with all honesty, "You can do it."
I have been in my video business 20 years. I have taught people from every walk of life. The ones that succeed are not necessarily the most educated, the most experienced, or the technical wizards… the ones that succeed are the ones that take the advantages of the Videomasters affiliation and put them into action. The program has been proven all over the country. It has worked for hundreds of affiliates, including me. It can work for you too. I know this sounds like a cliché but I liked the Videomasters program so much that another affiliate and I bought the parent company from the original owner. For these reasons, I can honestly say, "You can do it!"
In closing, I would like to thank you for your interest and offer that in life opportunities come and go. It's good to see a great opportunity and take advantage of it. This, my friend, is that great opportunity. You have nothing to lose so take the next step and submit the email that says you are interested. We can then discuss your personal situation and see how we can tailor this program to fit your dreams. We look forward to a long and profitable association.
Sincerely,

Rory Graham
